Blue skies from pain....

Today was yet another slow 'n easy day.
Vitals (all except the presky lo grade) were good and I'm really wanting to get on with things. It's just that I find myself still tiring very easily and I am painfully aware that there are "more things" in my abdomen as I currently have this little cheribic "Buddah belly"that I hate looking at and am determined to lose A.S.A.P.
It's just that right now sit ups are a bit beyond my current reach and even walking to the point of losing poundage may be some time away.
But I am determined.
It's got to go.

Dr. Narins, my one surgeon in his infinite wit, tells me "Well you DO have two additional organs in there! And your bikini days are probably over."
Yeeeeeah......Hardee Har Har.

Again, probably T.M.I.

And so for now I'm catching up on paperwork and simple things around the house and enjoying this beautiful late summer weather.

Tomorrow morn, I go back to Harrisburg for more bloodwork snd clinic. I expect nothing but good reports.

I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks for checking in here.

Hez, you are going to gain some temporary weight due to the steroids; don't fight it. Give your body at least 6 months! Remember what your body has been through and be patient with it. In August of 2003 (7 months after transplant) I weighed 168 pounds. I was enormous! I hated the way I looked but I could breathe. Regulation of all that has happened and is happening in your body takes months and you simply can't rush it! I'm not telling you to be a couch potato but some things need to run their course.
Are you sick of me yet???

  2. Never Jan.
You are my tx coach, my confidant, and forever my friend.
I cherish your advice and counsel and I'll do my best to be patient, but this is one issue that's sort of "front and center."
As I've stated before patience is not my biggest virtue so, drug effects aside, this is one matter that I'll be addressing to the best of my ability.
    Ain't vanity a bitch?

  3. glad today was another good day! :) dont you even be thinking about situps bob....not for a long time still. You will gain overall weight from steroids and look and feel bloated...that is normal. Last picture you posted on here...you looked like skin and bones...so yeah...focus on your healthy organs...not your "Buddha belly" that is holding them ;)
    Be sound...enjoy your evening!

  7. Bob. I'm going to be blunt. You do NOT need to lose weight. You are skin and bones!!!The "buddha belly" is not fat. It is from the extra organs, fluid from the surgery, and from the steroids. Doing sit ups and losing more weight is not going to get rid of it. Do you think that the "Biafra baby" sitting there in the dirt with its extended belly would do better to cut back on calories? You're in the same situation. You need to fill in the other parts of your body by eating good food and building up your muscle and other body tissues, including fat, to even out the extended abdomen. Listen to your doctors and to Jan and to Beth. No sit ups! No calorie cutting diets. Eat and enjoy the food you've been deprived of for so long. You deserve it and you need to put some meat on those bones. Period!

  8. Exactly Marilyn!
Bob! you are have been on a restricted diet for so long...dont you want to indulge a bit and enjoy some of your favorite things that you had to give up due to your previous renal failure? I remember you telling us that your doctor said to eat more protein...are you doing that? Have you had a steak and potato dinner yet? You need protein to build muscle, repair your body, heal, and replenish your hemoglobin. Protein gives you energy! Protein is your friend!
    Beef...its whats for dinner! ;)
mmmm now I want a steak!
