My world is getting smaller. Sorry God.

Dr Yang was just in.

He makes this seem like it's no big deal.
(Riiiiiiiight.)
Or at least nothing he hasn't seen many times before. He told me that they are dropping the A(ntibiotic) Bomb and that if all goes well today - I'll soon be out of here.

He did mention that the nurses had mentioned that I had asked in clinic on Monday, when I could go back to church. He laughed and he said "You've got to stay away from church man" he says "I can't tell you how many times we've had problems with people who insist on going to church" he said that "people will go to church no matter how sick they are and that's just a petri dish of infection."

On Monday they told me they didn't want me to go for two more weeks and today he said 4 to 6 weeks. No crowds at all for 4 to 6 weeks.

Argh.

I'm a social guy.....
Now I'm going to be a hermit.

  1. Yes you are a social guy and you do make a great impression wherever you go (note the effect you've had on the nurses at the hospital and how the Bob Lenz fan club has been pulling for you). HOWEVER! God does NOT expect you to sacrifice your organs and all you've been through just for you to show up at church. God is with you wherever you are! So no GIANT either (your second favorite place to be--did you mention that to your doctors?) Let us do the shopping for you! A few good books are a GREAT IDEA to have on hand! Listen to your friends and your doctors. We all CARE and LOVE YOU!!!!!

  2. I know it's upsetting but you have to listen to the docs ;)
There is mass on TV and that will have to suffice for now. I have all the IHM nuns in Scranton and across PA praying for you. You can't afford infection so be careful. When you follow instructions, you will have many, many years to be social!

  4. I don't have anything more to add that is not a reapeat of the above entries. I KNOW how hard it is for you to allow others to do all the running around. You have to, for now. You do know all the love that surrounds you here on earth and from "above"...let that fill you up and KNOW that there will be an end to the "bubble boy" phase. It is just part of your healing process. Keep practicing patience, Bob Lenz :)

  5. God will understand...besides you can pray at home...and everyone else is praying for you anyways. Please listen to the doctors. You are so immuno-comprimised right now that you should be limiting who comes over as well. That includes people who have just been to church and are carrying pathogens on their hands, anyone who has small kids, or people who have ANY pre or post signs of being sick. Be sure you have everyone who comes over wash their hands immediately upon entering your house too...or purell the shit outta them ;) You also need to be washing your own hands often...especially before you eat or touch your face or any of your healing wounds.
This is YOUR time to catch up on reading, TV, music, developing pictures, relaxing in the sun in your backyard...SLEEPING. See it as a sabbatical...one in which your objective is to relax and recover. You have certainly earned some time off!
You MUST rely on your family and friends to help out with things like going to Giant or anywhere that you need something from. Use your time to make up a big list for them to ensure they get exactly what you need. Oh I wish i could help you each and every day with these things.
You dont have to be a hermit...you can call skype text with your family and friends. Watch TV. Put on a pearl jam concert and enjoy THAT crowd ;) or better yet...watch a pearl jam concert.
Think of it this way bob...if you DONT listen to your doctors and avoid crowds/people...then you WILL end up back in the hospital. Doctors are pretty smart...listen to them ;)
Cheer up...sounds like you will be home soon again! :)
    Love ya! Miss ya!
