Alright...... Let's Do This!

Just heard that the surgeons are on their way back with some pristine organs for me.

Surgery is scheduled for 11.

Again, prayers are the order.
- For the donor.
- For his family.
- For me if you have one left.

Thanks to each and every one of you.

Kara will post updates here.

I'll see you on the other side.

Pre-Surgery Fashionista

Bob - all geared up in Rm 619.

I got real high hopes.....

My registration number. Good omen?

I'm admitted at Pinnacle.

Things are moving forward and they are keeping me here tonight.

I met with Becca my transplant coordinator, and Dr. Narins one of my surgeons, and was apprised again of the whole situation. They answered all the questions I had, I signed all the appropriate papers, and now we just wait and see.

I'm so glad that I had my "last supper meal" at lunchtime with Nick.
We had delicious BLT's with lettuce and tomatoes from my garden.
It may be my last "real" food for quite a while.

Since I've been here they've done 15 tubes of blood, ekg, chest X-rays and a gazillion blood sugar tests. I'm on an IV and I'm all wired up.

They've done the final compatibility tests and the donor and I are a perfect match. So if  / when the organs are procured in the morning and they look good - I am getting them. Because I have been built up to this point only to be let down before, Dr. Narins said that the final green light won't be given until he has examined both organs and determined that they are perfect. So cross your fingers!

They've pumped me full of stuff to sleep so this is all for now.

Thank you to all of you.

Bob

Take my hand...... Walk beside me...... This could be the day..........

Well, the drought is over...

I just received a call from the Transplant Center with a kp offer.

The TX Center always comes up as "Unknown" on my phone -
appropriate in so many ways.

I am first on the list and it looks like this may be a GO. (Then again, we've been here before)

The donor is said to be a young person and so I am told the organs should be excellent. I ask you to please say a prayer for their family in this heart wrenching time and bless both the donor and their family for this truly selfless gift of life to others.

My Transplant coordinator Becca told me this may be a long drawn out ordeal so I'm going to the tx center now and will update here when I can.

Best to all!

Bob

You need to understand.....there's nothing strange about this -

Mid-way through July and I've got nothing new to report.....errrr maybe that's nothing good worth reporting.

So in lieu of........I'm posting a few links in a PSA sorta way.

It's information baby.

Thanks for checking in.

Just the right amount of wrong...

So......I had my appt. with the nephrologist last week and although he was happy with my 2 pt increase in GFR, he told me that it is only buying me more time.

I continue to have a low appetite, I'm still losing weight, and I'm awoken nightly with killer leg cramps. The doctor still says that within 6 months I will need to be on the big D, but I'm now on a mission to prove him wrong.

If it's just "buying time"  then so be it.

But I'll buy all the time I can until I'm broke.

Thanks for checking in.

Summer Rally!!!

OK, so my next kidney doctor appt. is not until June 13th, but I reviewed the results of my latest blood labs online this morning and in a purely premature, pre-emptive  proposal I'm going to go out on a limb and say that my results look a tiny bit BETTER!

My red blood count is scary low and my BUN numbers are way too high, but my GFR (the biggie) actually went up 2mL to 10. JOY!

I'll see what the doc says on the 13th, but for now.....it's a thumbs-up day for me!
